Adopted as a baby, Paige Matthews has always felt oddly drawn to the Halliwells. She is magically called to Prue's funeral when Piper casts a spell to find a lost witch. Unknown to all but Grams, Patty Halliwell had a fourth daughter by Sam Wilder, her whitelighter. Although initially tempted by evil, Paige chooses good, and the Power of Three is reconstituted. Suddenly having the power to orb, and an instant family, Paige resists her identity and responsibilities at first. She feels pressured to be as good as Prue, a self inflicted measure of worth. Once she accepts the fundamental essence of being Charmed - the innocents always come first - Paige's common sense and instincts prove invaluable. Still, she takes no pleasure in being right about Cole's renewed demonic nature.
Paige quits her job as a social worker in order to be a full time witch. She attacks learning the Craft with passion and stops competing with Prue when she conjures a dove, a feat Prue never mastered. She hesitates to accept Grams, but forgives Sam for abandoning her. Because of his selfless act, she's had two wonderful families - her parents and her sisters. She learns, like her sisters, the difficulty in balancing a personal life with a magical one. But Paige will keep looking for Mr. Right, no matter how many Mr.Right-Nows it takes. Paige is nothing but upbeat, and she strives to achieve the balance, she knows a superwitch can attain love, family, friends and a satisfying career.
